     Dear Doug , Since you invested so much of yourself, your creativity, talents and gifts into our water garden, I need to let you know how much it means to us. I sure do love my water garden! Every time I go outside, I feel like I’ve left my house to go on a mini-vacation.

I can feed my fish by lying down on the deck around the pond. They eat their food right out of my hand. Even in winter time they come to me to eat. I can imagine I am on a deserted island surrounded by waterfalls and gardens, and I don’t even have to close my eyes – because that’s what I’m really seeing! I can sunbathe in the privacy of my own back yard and dangle my legs in the water as I sit on the big rock ledge.

Sometimes the koi fish tickle my toes, wondering what those ten little things are doing in their home. When it’s too hot for the sun, I go in the shady part of the garden, surrounded by the cool water splashing off the rocks. It’s a lot like being at the beach under a shade tree – something about those negative ions created by moving water. Some of the water plants have grown so tall, my cat has to search for me among the elephant ears and papyrus plants that have reached the size of my pygmy palms.

Yes, I know, you’re going to say, “Sure, but it’s still nice to get away from home and go on a vacation sometimes.” My answer: True, but I want vacations between my one or two trips a year. In fact, I want a vacation where I can sleep in my own bed at night, save the cost of over-priced room service, and – best of all – avoid the hassle and stress of airports, crowded planes, and the high price of gasoline for my car.

Really, when you think about it, my home is my castle, and it’s fully equipped with a moat and a bridge! The luxury of going in my back yard and entering a fie-star resort, without the crowds, makes me feel like royalty.
