August 4, 2007 was the next major change in our walk with God. I had finally reached the point in my life where everything that appeared to be important seemed more like vanity. A terrorizing thought plagued my mind:  How many people would show up at my funeral, and what would they have to say about me?  “Boy, Doug Hoover sure did build a lot of beautiful waterfalls and could always seem to find a way to make you laugh.” That’s it? Was anyone’s life improved in any way because Doug Hoover was on this earth? Did he ease anybody’s pain or heartache, did he help the poor or homeless, the down and out, or comfort the sick and dying? Was anyone’s life enriched because Doug Hoover lived? Was one person saved or introduced to Jesus by Doug Hoover? Did someone find hope or a renewed faith in God because Doug Hoover took time to think of someone other than himself?
